Who We Are

Hetherwick Hutcheson was founded in 2004 when like minded professional women Kelly Hetherwick Woods and Carolyn Hutcheson Bried began collaborating on residential design projects. Both Principals in the company they oversee all areas of the design projects with attention to the details that ensure outstanding project completion. They coordinate with their team of professionals to maximize all project design goals.

Kelly Hetherwick Woods has worked in the architectural and design industry for the past 26 years in offices in both New York City and San Francisco designing residences and resort hotels in the U.S. and overseas. After graduation from Univ. of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1987, she worked for a season at the Santa Fe Opera House building and painting sets, scenery & props prior to her arrival in the Bay Area. Kelly gained valuable experience on a variety of job sites collaborating with other design professionals that enabled her to develop an extensive knowledge of construction methods and millwork detailing. This is evident in her attention to space plan layouts, and project details.

Most influential to her design work is her high school year studying abroad in Cambridge England and travels around the sites of Europe and she is inspired by mid century modern design. She is in awe of grand architecture and curious about the patina she finds on her vintage treasures.

Kelly resides in the SF East Bay with her twin daughters and in her spare time enjoys collecting vintage wares, going to museums and hearing live music. She is a professional member of the ASID and a Calif. Certified Interior Designer. Her recent residential projects are located in Menlo Park, Orinda, Lafayette, Danville, Blackhawk and Piedmont.

Carolyn Hutcheson Bried has worked in the design industry for the past 23 years on both the East and West Coasts. After graduation from Univ. of Delaware in 1988 she found her passion for design while at Ralph Lauren Home Collection for 12 years collaborating with designer & clients in the high end markets of New York City, East Hampton, Palm Beach, Atlanta and San Francisco. While working there Carolyn gained valuable experience broadening her knowledge of interior design components, styles and expressions enabling her to develop an extensive knowledge and passion for textiles. This is evident in her innate ability to effortlessly mix textures, colors & patterns and the tasteful and inspiring designs and color palettes she creates.

Most influential to her design work is her love of Napa Valley and summers spent in her native New York. She is inspired by traditional architectural grand homes and floral designs found in nature.

Carolyn resides in SF East Bay with her husband and 3 children and in her spare time enjoys her charity work, working with youth, gourmet cooking and sports photography. She is a professional member of the Home Staging Network is passionate about organization and planning. Her recent residential projects are located in Orinda, Lafayette, Danville and Blackhawk.
